What we do to make a difference

Every product we make has an environmental impact. At Merino Kids, we believe our responsibility is to make thoughtful choices about the fibres we use, where they come from and how our products can remain useful for longer.

Babies grow quickly, often outgrowing their favourite pieces before we are ready to put them away. That is why what clothing is made from matters, but so does how it is cared for and what happens when it is no longer needed.

Our Approach

Thoughtfully sourced merino wool from New Zealand: a naturally grown, renewable fibre that biodegrades under suitable conditions. Products made to be cared for, loved and passed on. Gentle washing and natural drying guidance.

Why We Choose Merino

Sheep produce a new fleece each year, making wool renewable, while 100% wool can also biodegrade under suitable environmental conditions. Merino is breathable, moisture managing and naturally resistant to odours, so clothing that has only been lightly worn may simply need airing rather than a full wash. Of course, milk dribbles, breakfast spills and nappy leaks will always have the final say.

With the right care, merino products can be handed down between siblings, shared with friends or passed on to another family. A sleeping bag that has kept one baby cosy through countless bedtimes may still have plenty of life left when they outgrow it. Those well-loved pieces can become part of another family’s story.

We choose exceptionally fine merino wool from New Zealand for its softness, breathability and natural performance.

We work closely with our suppliers, considering quality, traceability and animal welfare when making our sourcing decisions. These relationships help us better understand where our materials come from and how they are produced, while allowing us to keep learning and improving.

Care That Helps Merino Last

A little gentle care can help preserve merino’s softness, shape and natural performance:

Cool wash at 30°C

Choose a gentle cycle or hand wash

Use only wool-approved detergent

Do not soak, bleach or use hot water or soap

Do not tumble dry

Dry flat in the shade, away from direct sunlight

Following the care instructions can help prevent accidental shrinkage or damage, keeping your little one’s merino clothing looking and feeling its best for longer.

Giving Sleeping Bags Another Life
