Preguntas frecuentes sobre sacos de dormir de lana merino

Yes, in fact, it is sometimes considered a "wonder fabric" for babies. Merino wool is silky soft (think cashmere softness), breathable, and gentle on delicate newborn skin. Our sleeping bags are made from organic cotton and 100% merino lining. They are sleeveless and fitted, making them a safer alternative to loose blankets, in line with safe sleep guidance.

Place your baby in a fitted sleeping bag with appropriate layers for the room temperature. Ensure arms and neck are free and avoid loose blankets. A well-fitted sleeping bag supports safe and comfortable sleep.

Merino sleeping bags don’t have a true TOG rating like traditional polyester bags. TOG was designed for fill-thickness insulation, which traps heat, but Merino works differently: it’s naturally breathable, moisture-wicking, and adapts to your baby’s body temperature.

Because of this, Merino Kids provides an “equivalent TOG” as a general guide, along with room temperature and layering advice. A “2.5 TOG equivalent” Merino bag may feel lighter than a polyester 2.5 TOG bag, but it can still keep your baby comfortable across a wider temperature range and help reduce overheating. Think of Merino as temperature-regulating, not fixed-warmth, it adjusts to your baby and their environment, making TOG more of a helpful reference than a strict rule.

Merino wool is naturally breathable and helps regulate your baby’s temperature.

It allows excess heat and moisture to escape, helping your baby stay comfortable throughout the night. This makes it a great choice for reducing the risk of overheating compared to more traditional, synthetic fabrics.

Merino fibres are much finer than traditional wool, making them soft and comfortable against delicate skin.

Many parents choose Merino for babies with sensitive skin, as it’s breathable and helps manage moisture, two important factors in keeping skin calm and comfortable.

Most parents keep 2 sleeping bags per child, one in use, one in the wash. Merino’s durability and odour resistance make this easy to manage.

We recommend choosing based on your baby’s height rather than age for the best fit.

A well-fitting sleeping bag should sit securely around the neck and armholes, with no gaps, while still allowing freedom to move. Features like shoulder poppers and underarm sizing help ensure a snug and safe fit. Our sleeping bags have adjustments such are arm popper, meaning they fit a larger age range than most.

This will depend on your room temperature.

In warmer conditions, a short-sleeve bodysuit is often enough. In cooler rooms, you can add layers such as a sleepsuit or vest.

Merino works beautifully as part of a simple layering system, helping to regulate your baby’s temperature as conditions change overnight.

A comfortable baby is more likely to sleep well.

Merino helps create a consistent sleep environment by regulating temperature and wicking moisture away from the skin. This can help reduce discomfort caused by overheating or dampness, both common causes of night waking.

Yes. Merino’s natural antibacterial properties help reduce odour-causing bacteria, so your baby’s sleeping bag stays fresher for longer. Simply airing between wears is often enough.

Yes. Our Merino sleeping bags are machine washable on a gentle wool cycle. Use a wool-friendly detergent and lay flat or line dry to maintain the fibres.

When cared for according to the instructions, Merino retains its shape beautifully. Avoid hot washes or tumble drying to preserve softness and performance.
